Things that make you go hmm,..... did he or didn't he?

Is a suggestion the same as asking?

Apparently Scott Blaylock is disputing a lot of people's memory of his last year suggesting either a fuel tax, a property tax increase, or a wheel tax to help fund the road dept. I expect we will hearing a lot more about this as it gets closer to election time in May.

From the webpage of our Cumberland County Road Superintendent, Scott Blaylock link

FACT: I have NEVER and I repeat NEVER asked for a property tax increase on the citizens, NOR did I ever ask for a Wheel Tax. I do not like rumors, I like to talk about things head on. I can tell you exactly how I'm funded and how it came about with the tax increase and wheel tax. Again, I NEVER ASKED FOR ANY TAX OR WHEEL TAX. There is Budget Committee meeting minutes to prove that fact! It details what was said...or at least it should. I only asked for help last year because of all the unusual rain and washouts, flood, culvert damages and cross drain replacements, it helped to get the one time donation from the county and it went into the tar and chip fund directly. Thankfully Allen Foster made the motion for the donation. If you would call me or come see me, I'm more than happy to talk with you about what has been said about the taxes and wheel tax and I will tell you how that came about even being discussed. I do NOT want a tax increase myself.

Here is the Crossville Chronicle report of the April session of the Cumberland County Budget Committee:

Blaylock said the county could help either with a fuel tax, property tax or wheel tax. - See more at: http://www.crossville-chronicle.com/local/x437164336/Panel-discusses-road-repair-funding#sthash.LEEauiKi.dpuf

I found the minutes of the meeting online, but couldn't open them to read them, but be sure and read the Chronicle report of the meeting.

Well Gary Nelson says in the article that Scott said that, yet it isn't listed as a quote. So I can't say that there is 'proof' that he said it, but it seems that he at least gave Nelson that impression.

I do remember commenting at the time that I felt he was being hypocritical by asking for the money, since he attacked the former supervisor during the campaign for doing the same thing, claiming that he wouldn't ask the county for money.

Here is the page for the Budget Committee meeting for April that I couldn't open. Maybe you or someone else can open and read them.

Note, there are 2 Budget committee meeting in April 2013. April 2nd, and April 30. The committee meeting the newspaper refers to would have to have been the one on the 2nd of April.

That's just the calendar, there is no link to the minutes.

Ok, sorry, this is a link to the minutes I found and couldn't open, but the Budget Committee meeting for April 2nd is not listed.
