MANHATTAN PROJECT NATIONAL HISTORIC PARK IN PLANNING STAGES
It took years for the Manhattan Project National Historic Park to be approved, but since the bill was signed into law last year, planning is underway. Officials from the National Park Service and U.S. Dept. of Energy will be in Oak Ridge this week. Representatives from the Great Smokey Mountains and Big South Fork Parks will also be on hand for the consultation. An open House will be held for the public Thursday at 10 AM at the Oak Ridge Civic Center. The Manhattan National Historical Park legislation was passed by Congress in December 2014, and signed into law by President Barack Obama on December 19.
