Bookworm, I will admit that I don't know the exact language of the Maryland laws, but the links that you have provided, findlaw, do not address those specific laws. The fact that they make such general conclusions of the laws makes their definitions to be simply unreliable at best. In comparison to NY law for example, those assumptions are 100% wrong and do not fit the law at all.
BTW, the Maryland law regarding manslaughter with a vehicle specifies the DRIVER causing the death by use of the vehicle (and that is meant to be using the vehicle to hit a person) yet this prosecutor charged 4 officers with that offense. I have yet to see a Chevy van equipped for 4 drivers, have you?
